What did you do over the weekend?

I have a bad habit of always answering with a simple, "Nothing much." when asked what I did over the weekend.
Every weekend.
Now, no one does nothing for two full days. I have been thinking about this and decided, regardless of how unexciting my weekends might be, I should answer thoroughly rather than simply.
So here goes my weekend deeds for this weekend so far...

~ Blogged

~ Cleaned all of my make-up brushes

~ Hung around the crib for most all day on Saturday with a hair mask on (made up of oils and herbal powders). Going to try and incorporate eggs next time. My hair is highlighted and super fine with dry ends.

~ Gave myself a facial and woke up today with bumps all over my face. Read that as breakouts which is actually fine. I could be wrong, but this is probably impurities coming forth to die die die...hopefully!

~ Laundry (since you can see and not hear the duo below in action, and there is no video clip, take my word on it that they are working their arses off)

~ Crockpotting a Mexican dish made up of chicken, rice, and black beans. I was going to go to the grocery store, but found everything I needed in my pantry and freezer. Go figure, I had all the ingredients as well as the inertia to actually cook something. I am known as the Queen of Delivery. The restaurants in my hood who deliver, all know me. Saving money with my crockpot...ROCK ON!! (no one said it was a pretty sight, eh, but it does smell oh-so-mouth watering-good. In about 4 more hours, we'll see what it looks like when it's done)

~ I did a bit o shopping too. *AHEM* The guilt of having spent money is the reason for my previous point *AHEM*.
-- Bought me the 99 Wedges I posted about earlier
-- Purchased work slacks from Banana Republic and The Loft
-- Replenished supplies from Sephora
>> NARS pencil sharpener: 1 for eye pencils, 1 for lip pencils

Morning fog

snaps from my balcony, fog

It did not rain this weekend; however, this morning the city woke up drenched in a fog covered in bright sunshine (not that my crappy camera shots shows how sunny that sun is today...take my word for ?)

Maybe it was more of a mist.

Heck, it could be smog for all I know.

I personally wish it wasn't as sunny as it is. The fog seems more ominous, beautiful, when it falls over a darker landscape...a landscape hiding in the shade.

Final Soliloquy of the Interior Paramour

Final Soliloquy of the Interior Paramour
Light the first light of evening
In which we rest and, for small reason, think
The world imagined is the ultimate good.
This is, therefore, the intensest rendezvous.
It is in that thought that we collect ourselves,
Out of all the indifferences, into one thing:
Within a single thing, a single shawl
Wrapped tightly round us, since we are poor, a warmth,
A light, a power, the miraculous influence.
Here, now, we forget each other and ourselves.
We feel the obscurity of an order, a whole,
A knowledge, that which arranged the rendezvous.
Within its vital boundary, in the mind.
We say God and the imagination are one...
How high that highest candle lights the dark. Out of this same light, out of the central mind,
We make a dwelling in the evening air,
In which being there together is enough.

STOCK UP!!!

WORK. WORK. WORK.
Maybe you've heard of it, yeah?
Because it is a place I have to be at 5 days out of the week for approximately 8 hours a day, my wardrobe consists of quite a few pieces of 'office appropriate' attire.
Granted I do end up either being too lazy at 4am in the mornings or am in a creative mood, the
appropriate attire concept gets pushed to the limits at times.

Anywho, all you folks out there who understand and can relate to this scenario, check out

In honor of Penelope Stamp

I love a movie, regardless of how well it does (or doesn't do) via a critic's viewpoint, where the characters are distinctly individual and full of personality. Just like a Margo Tenenbaum, a Lydia Deetz, or a Cher Horowitz...Penelope Stamp from The Brothers Bloom stands out in a unique way

And it's not just Weisz's character that has wonderful fashion sense...all of these guys rock!
love the bowler hats, pinstripes, trenches, fur, and all the black mixed in with yellows, and oranges, and blues and reds and greens!

Kindlicious

FOUND IT!! Thanks, Beth!!

Twas a contest hosted by Amazon.com

The winner, Angela Kohler, entry has had me baffled all weekend long trying to find out who the song was by. It had me intrigued from the get go. I had Googled "Amazon", "Kindle", "commercial" in every combo possible, along with the tidbits of the words of the song...'faded maps and shiny thing', 'fill the moon', 'a million different ways to go', 'will you fly me away'....with no luck.

In Angela's words...
"My boyfriend, Ithyle Griffiths, and I had just purchased Kindles and were doing a lot of traveling when we got the e-mail about the contest. We were constantly approached in airports with questions about them. The best thing about the Kindle was that we no longer had to each pack five books in our luggage, and could pick and choose what book to open every time we boarded a flight. We wanted our commercial to reflect all the different books you can carry around in one device. On a plane from Japan to Thailand, we brainstormed ideas and sketched out little stories that our character could fall into following different literary genres. We scribbled out pictures on napkins and made a flip-book, putting the little scenes in different orders. The day of the shoot, we gutted a pillow to make clouds and smoke (a last-minute addition) and did the commercial in one seven-hour take. Our friend Annie Little starred in the spot, Sharon Williams was in charge of the wardrobe, Rachel DeSimone did the hair and makeup and we all worked together moving the scene inch by inch between shots. After we assembled the 300 or so frames, Ithyle wrote some music to accompany the clip, and that same day Annie sent over some lyrics that just happened to fit perfectly. They recorded it together the next day. We are so thrilled to have won both prizes because it means our film resonates with both Amazon corporate and their customers. We are really looking forward to attending the Gen Art Film Festival, and having our video recognized at the event is definitely icing on the cake. "

Facing death with dignity

Out of the ashes...

I am long overdue for a color and cut. The price and time to take care of my hair needs is just out of reach, but I do not think I can push it off for too much further. I have been donning blonde-ish highlights with my dark brown hair; however, I'm aching for a change. Who knows if I will walk out of there with the same ole same ole color or something darker and full of heat and life like the following gorgeous redheads.

I love my hair stylist. She's fantastic and I trust her completely. I hope she says that this is do-able and something that I can carry off personally. Hoping to schedule that visit for sometime this week or, at the latest, next week.

Beautiful remains

These were posted out on the www earlier this year. I think they are absolutely brilliant artistry. The photo above of the crouching angel is my favorite. Actually all of the ones with the winged creature are beautifully done.

Extraordinary sculptures by Saúl Hernández (from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico). The “208 OSEOsidades” is a collection of 21 bronze sculptures of 21 centimeters in height. He uses the most common representation of death which is the human skeleton in a 1:8 scale replica of a real skeleton. (February 2009)
